Lakes Quality

Here at Rotorua Duck Tours, we offer amazing tours of Rotorua's Lakes region which take you to some of the most beautiful scenery in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand.

Lakes Quality Tour – 1 3/4 hours:

Climb aboard these amazing WWII Landing Crafts to visit 3 very different Lakes in the Rotorua Region. These 3 Lakes represent very different stages of quality. Firstly we will visit Lakes Rotorua before heading over to Tikitapu and then lastly Okareka. (Visual test is done to compare visibility and quality.)

We will also visit the Te Whakarewarewa Forest waste water treatment area to view the ponds and the waste water distribution system.

See first-hand the difference in quality and learn and talk about the causes and what we can be doing to alleviate the problem. 

• Evaluate social, economic and technological measures that could be taken to sustain natural resources and analyse the actions necessary for the sustainability of Rotorua’s lakes. 

• Internal Achievement Standard 1.3 “ Demonstrate geographic understanding of the sustainable use of an environment”. Credits 3. 
• Access the Internal Achievement standard task for the Level 1 students to complete during the tour. The Assessment Schedule is also available once you have booked this package with Rotorua Duck Tours. 
• Students will be 
• describing how and why people use the selected environment  
• describing the consequences of this use on people and environment  describing the sustainability, or otherwise, of the selected environment with continued use. 

• explaining the nature of the contemporary geographic issue   
• discussing how people’s values and perceptions of the issue have led to their responses 
• suggesting a suitable course of action to solve the issue and justify why this is an appropriate solution.
